The question is based on the fact that we have a strong source of info that effects our decisions and choices, and it is the social contacts. We may inspire by others and someone may be inspired by us. So this phenomenon can help a business man to choose the social media and networking websites to use for marketing their products and services.

Now FaceBook, Twitter, Youtube, StumbleUpon, Digg and some others are regularly used by millions of users daily and they are a big outlet for product marketing. If you are still missing the social media, you are missing a great niche. It is wise to add this niche in the marketing strategy and start promotion of your business.

All the social media sites are free and offer multiple options and feature to collaborate with other members. Their atmosphere builds a community having casual or even strong relations among the members and provides a suitable environment of interaction. This environment also demand to do the marketing in such a way that it do not look as spam. Spam is the most hated behavior online and it has a direct effect on the credibility of your name / business.

Effective Use of Social Media

Social media is not made for posting links to a blog post etc. They need a constant effort to be successful. Effective ways of interaction at social media, networking or bookmarking websites are described in following steps.

• Spend time on building an attractive or compelling profile; add all information about yourself, business and favorites/hobbies.
• Participate in the available feature. Like if there is a forum or chat room, use it.
• Send messages about others activities and work, admire their work and give a thumb up, rate it or post comment.
• Like at dig, if you have more diggs, you will be more prominent. This is possible with the help of other diggers, so help them and get theirs in reward. This is just like trading for links etc.
• It is better to give your friends valuable info according to their interest. Do not always try to promote your own services or products. Like twitter, if your tweets are useful for the followers, they will pay attention and you will get good rewards.
• Be regular, accessible and timely responsive.
• Play ethically and do not spam. Use the appropriate feature for the specific purpose, it is built for.
